Crystal Reports: Page Header plus Page Footer too large for the page

Have you ever been working on a Crystal Report and it works just fine on your computer, but on someone else’s computer, it won’t load? Instead you’re met with this error

The solution seems simple enough, make the page header and footer smaller right? Well sometimes that’s not an option, and it works on your machine, so why is that? The solution to this issue is thankfully a simple one. All you need to do to fix this error is go into the Page Setup in Crystal reports pictured below (click File menu at the top and select Page Setup)

From inside this menu you have a few things you can try, you can check off Optimize for Screen display

Which works because Crystal Reports bases the page size off your default printer, changing the printer can work too, but that depends on each individual who is trying to see the report. It’s also why changing from Portrait to Landscape or vice-versa may also assist in solving the problem.

Do note however, because the settings are tied to the page it will actually morph your page to be similar to the new style, which is why I recommend checking “No Printer / Optimize for Screen” first.
